Hmm... We don't exactly remember any singular moment when it happened, but slowly our digital entertainment archives have grown to the point where they feel like a lifetime's work, an ouvre of seemingly infinitely pretty compendia decorated with playlists, soundtracks, albums, artists, one-hit wonders, remixes, remixes of remixes, songs that are "Remember that song?" songs, videos, TV episodes, books, podcasts and now even movies. We mean, our iTunes collection is now so vast (probably just like yours) that we've decided to give it a name: Aphrodite. 'Cause she's just so enormously divine. She got curves!

Alas (yes, we're in the mood for ancillary alases, lasses), the sheer searching, collecting, uploading, buying, playlisting and iPodification of our lives has suddenly smacked us with the realization that we'd be pretty upset, even devastated, if our computer were to smite our digitally divine Aphrodite. So for pretty's sake, please backup your Aphrodite on an external hard drive! We just did!

You didn't spend your entire pretty life amassing the most fabulous of fabulous in your fabulousness to let it all slip into a blackhole of computer fugshock when your Mac has a massive attack or your PC gives you the hasta a la Vista. The time and money you've already spent alone is priceless, so it's definitely worth the investment in some hardware. Did we type "hardware"? Sorry, we didn't mean to go all Home Depot "My name is Chuck. How can I help you?" on you. Anyway, we'd like to share our favorite pretty solution: Toshiba's HHDR series of external hard drives.

The ultra-chic and shiny Toshiba external hard drives have storage ranges from 160GB to 400GB, easily plug in via USB, and come with swerves in four colors (blue, green, red and grey). They weigh only about 6 oz. with a size of 0.65" (H) x 3.2" (W) x 5.0" (D), so they're slightly larger than an iPhone -- awesome for travelling and slipping into purses, bags, laptop cases, backpacks, etc. The price point on them is perfectly pretty as well, compared to other external, fugly hard drives, and they make pretty practical gifts, too. You wouldn't want anyone you know to lose their Aprodite, would you?
